Control Room Operator
Work Location: Khour Al Zubair Free Zoon Area in Khour Al Zubail port
Salary: 800$ - 850$
Summary: Reporting to the Terminal Supervisor, the Control Room Operator will be overall responsible to monitor and control the receipt, storage, inter tank transfer, ship unloading, gantry operations and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
Key Responsibilities
1. Co-ordinate with Load Master, Jetty Operator and Terminal Supervisor for smooth and safe vessel unloading/discharge operations.
2. Scroll SCADA Graphics & trend pages repeatedly to monitor the terminal status. Adjust the parameters to maintain the Terminal in healthy state. Respond to all process alarms and taking the necessary corrective action if required.
3. To assist the shift supervisor in day-to-day activities by providing proper feedback and follow-up.
4. Provide work guidance to field Senior Operators/Operators and coordinate their activities in keeping with standard operating procedures & standing instructions complying with company’s Health, Safety & Environment policy.
5. Monitor fire alarm panel and interact with Free Zone area fire control center during failure of any fire pumps/equipment or need of additional support. Act as First aider.
6. In case of emergency situation, take appropriate actions as per ‘Company’ emergency procedures and contingency plans.
7. Safely shut down the affected area of terminal partially or totally and to restore the Terminal to normal operating conditions safely and efficiently once the situation is normalized.
8. Schedule and coordinate all activities in the Tank Farm relating to preventive maintenance, routine and periodic dips.
9. To initiate work request for maintenance in case of equipment/instrument failure in co-ordination with field operators & shift supervisor.
10. Follow-up work permits, take equipment/instruments out of service for maintenance and to take back in service after maintenance intervention.
11. Liaise and follow up maintenance requisitions with maintenance sections to ensure all work is carried out under the Company Permit to Work system within production requirements and using correct maintenance procedures.
12. Perform weekly and monthly tests and checks on various equipment, i.e., pumps, motors, compressor, stand by generators etc. to ensure trouble free day to day operations.
13. Ensure that all records of Terminal operations are maintained and produce various reports as necessary pertaining to the activities of the Tank Farm. Highlight any variances to shift supervisor.
14. Advise the Shift Supervisor for any abnormal operating conditions and to take timely action for appropriate solution.
15. Motivate & train team of IRAQI local nationals and field operators.
Qualification / Education Level :
• Higher Secondary school certificate with additional Technical Diploma.
Experience:
• Minimum 6 years practical experience at oil Terminals/ Jetty, Refineries as Control Room Panel Operator and Tank Farm Operations for receiving/storing and transferring of Petroleum products.
Training :
• Has recently attended and holds certificates for basic firefighting. (Advanced Fire and Advanced First Aid courses preferred).
